THE BEST CORE EXERCISES FOR DANCERS (THAT ARN'T CRUNCHES)

Ready for an ab workout that doesn't include boring old crunches?? Don't get me wrong, crunches have their place in the core strengthening world however, for dancers, there are so many more effective exercises to try. Here are a few of my fav's!

MARCHING PROGRESSIONS

It's really important on this one to *keep the rib cage down* the entire time. It's all about control, so the pelvis and spine shouldn't change positions. Bonus- These are also great exercises to strengthen the hip flexors if you have impingement!

BEAST PLANK VARIATIONS

A fun twist on traditional planks! Just be sure to keep your spine in neutral throughout each of these exercises.

SIDE PLANK WITH CLAM

Bonus- this one is a turn out exercise too!

Supine Overhead Reach

This is the perfect exercise to target the core while the arms go overhead. If you ever get the correction to stop arching your back or sticking the ribs out, give this exercise a try! The most important thing- Keep the spine neutral and rib cage down!!

Single Leg Pallof Press

Want to improve your turns? This is a great way to do it! The pallof press really challenges your center of gravity and balance.

Hope this gave you some great new ideas to try out and get those abs working!!
